Artist Research

Jeffrey Steele



Jeffrey Steele was born in 1931 in Cardiff. He was an Abstract Painter. He encountered works of Geometric Abstraction by artist such a Victor Vasarely, Max Bill, and Josef Albers, and adopted the lifelong abstract approach.
For 8years, he produced work purely in black and white, and was identified with the Op Art Movement. He incorporated other colours into his work in the 1970's.
His work has been exhibited in London, Paris, new York, Milan, and at the Venice Bienalle in 1986.
He ha participated in more that 100 group exhibitions, and has had over 17 solo exhibitions.
