Possible concept change
While I have been able to carry out the beginnings of the project proposal concept, I have realised that as I try to consciously do something I have been doing without realising, it stunts the natural flow of the work created that way, and therefore makes it a lot weaker.
I am considering changing my project concept for this reason, but will be carrying on with some of the experiments I have started throughout the time I have been exploring the concept. I aim to create work in a more natural way, rather than forcing myself to create work to fit a concept that obviously isn't working as I had planned.
While I feel that I am changing directions because it is becoming challenging, I think this is for the best, and will help me develop my work. I may even find myself moving back to this concept once I have cleared my head and gotten into the groove of working once more.
I am simply taking a step back and re-evaluating. I instead intent to focus on exploring with different techniques of sculpture, and will be looking at artists such as Phyllida Barlow, Frans West, Rachel Harrison, and Sterling Ruby.
While these artists are not drastically different from each other in terms of the materials they choose to use, they will all have used different techniques within the making process. For now, I aim to explore with these different techniques so as to get back into working confidently and consistently so I can think more about my concept, and which direction I am going to take for the project.
